Worked for BT as an operator for four and a half years after leaving school with 7 O’Levels. Made redundant in June 1992 so worked for a temping agency for the next few months until taking up employment with Transmedia in February 1993 (then Swansea Microfilm). Worked for Transmedia for 16 years - started as an admin assistant and have progressed over the years and now hold the position of senior Administrator.
What are your areas of expertise?
Organisation, communication, ability to meet tight deadlines, dealing with staff issues, quality administration issues/quality auditing.
What is the best thing about your job?
The variation of tasks I am required to perform from one day to the next e.g, quality management issues, environmental issues, sales invoicing and accounts admin, payroll, personnel issues, secretary to MD, business development, customer contact etc. There is always something different to be getting on with. Also, working with and alongside a good team of people.
Never leave home without?
Feeling positive about the day ahead.
What is the most interesting project you have worked on?
Due to the nature of our business many customer projects can be very interesting and informative but I really enjoyed being involved with the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) where we partnered with Swansea University Computer Science Dept. This involved the development of our own in-house workflow management system (InteFlow), which I believe has been invaluable to us as a company for improvement of our processes and our quality control.
What is important to you?
On a personal note - my family and a good home life. Work-wise - delivering a good service to our customers by listening carefully to their requirements and being considered a valuable member of the team.
The company is growing, is that daunting?
Not at all, the company has changed greatly since I started here and we have already had some growth over the last couple of years, which I think is exciting and because we have such a good team at Transmedia I am sure we will rise to the challenges which lie ahead.
