Environmental Policy
Transmedia Technology Ltd (TMT) was established in 1976 initially as a microfilm bureau. As scanning technology developed the company emphasis changed, however we still produce and convert or migrate microform imagery for a large and varied customer base. TMT is recognised as one of the leading scanning bureaus and microfilm converters in the UK with many trade customers sub contracting scanning and microform work of any description to us. Greg Pye has been the Managing Director since 1986 and the company employs 37 people. The company currently operates from 19,000 square feet of premises on the Swansea West Industrial Park. In line with the stated growth objectives, the Company invested in a new data warehouse of 10,000 square feet costing £600,000, in order to take advantage of the current trends in the data management market.
TMT has an environmental management system accredited to Phase 2 of BS8555:2003, Certificate No: SER/CYM/001 with a view to working towards ISO14001:2004. The company also won the prestigious Sustainable Swansea award in 2005.
TMT will adopt and aim to apply an Environmental Management System, based on ISO 14001: 2004 that will meet its requirements whilst applying the principles of sustainable development. We will minimise waste produced, where possible, in all aspects of our business in the use of all materials, services and energy. Wherever possible we will use reusable and recyclable materials for our products and services.
TMT provide a full range of services in document conversion, imaging, archiving and data management using cutting edge technology to deliver cost effective tailor made solutions to the highest standards. We aim to achieve environmental best practice as far as it is practicable throughout all our operations. TMT recognises that the pursuit of economic growth & eco-efficiency must be closely linked in order to achieve environmental excellence. The implementation of this Environmental Management System demonstrates the company’s commitment to the environment. TMT will assess operations and procedures to identify all significant environmental impacts. Objectives & targets are implemented & reviewed annually in an aim to reduce our impacts & ensure our commitment to the continual improvement of TMT's environmental performance.
Trans Media Technology will:
Segregate and recycle waste using separate bins for paper, plastics, cans, toner cartridges etc. therefore reducing the amount of waste and the amount of skip collections needed.
Comply with the requirements of all environmental legislation and approved codes of practice.
Prevent pollution by improved methods of chemical storage and the use of spill kits if and when required.
Monitor energy consumption and where practical minimise the consumption of energy.
Educate employees on environmental issues through environmental awareness training.
Review on an annual basis the Environmental Policy and the Environmental Management System to ensure that it remains appropriate to the nature of the business.
Make available the Environmental Policy to all interested parties.
