Background
The Welsh Blood Service (WBS) is a division of Velindre NHS Trust. They collect voluntary, non-remunerated blood donations from South, West and part of Mid Wales, which are then processed and tested before distribution to hospitals.

The Challenge
The client had a requirement to retain access to documents or document images over many years.  The documents are supplied from various departments throughout the organisation on a monthly basis and all media must be secure, enduring and capable of being readily retrieved.

The Solution
Transmedia provided a tailor made electronic document management system (EDMS), to meet WBS requirements.  All documents were digitised to ISO Standards and hyperlinked for use with the supplied image viewing and retrieval software. We also provided archival storage and retrieval of original documents, together with confidential, certified destruction where required.

This solution meets all of WBS archiving requirements, consistent with current ISO Standards.  Transmedia have now supplied over 1,500 CDs to WBS as part of this ongoing project.
